T.J. Cox, 71, of Clanton died Friday, March 6, 2009 at Capital Hill Rehabilitation, Montgomery.
He was born on Thursday, Dec. 23, 1937 in Chilton County, son of the late Litt Cox and the late Mollie Wilkins Cox. He was owner of a construction company. He was also a member of the Lions Club and rescue squad.
Surviving are his wife, Sue Cox of Clanton; four daughters, Marinda (Samuel) Mims of Clanton, Cindy (Lanney) Dennis of Clanton, Angi (Travis) Atchison of Maplesville and Nikki (Stacy) Duren of Clanton; grandchildren, Brooke Martin, Heath Mims, Thomas Mims, Mitchell Vanderslice, Torrey Cleckler, Tre’ Atchison, Courtney Duren, Clint Duren and Calin Duren; sister, Gladys Carter; two brothers, Aubrey Cox and Charlie Cox.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Monica Cox, and son, Todd Cox.
Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. today, March 7, at Martin Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be held Sunday, March 8, at 3 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Douglas Carroll officiating. Interment will follow in Bethsalem Baptist Cemetery, Billingsley.
