A man is in jail for allegedly burglarizing a restaurant in Maplesville.

Jamie Atcheson, 20, of Maplesville has been charged with burglary and theft of property.

On Feb. 26, Friends Diner in Maplesville was broken into between the hours of 9:15 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. the next morning. Some money and a number of Dr Peppers were stolen from the business.

Maplesville Police Chief Todd Ingram said investigating these kinds of cases are difficult because they usually can’t make an arrest unless there is a witness or a good set of fingerprints. Fortunately, the investigating officers, Greg Walls and Patrick Quinley, found a good footprint and matched it with the suspect’s shoes.

In addition to that, the suspect was seen walking on the road near the diner on the night of the incident, according to Ingram.

A high bail has been set for Atcheson, who is still in the Chilton County Jail. The reason for that is that Atcheson was already out on bond for the burglary of Maplesville’s concession stand over a month ago when he was arrested for this burglary.
