Crime goes beyond drugs

Illegal drugs are a drain on our society. So, we commend the Clanton police officers that were involved in the arrest Monday of two people on charges of unlawful distribution and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

We also condemn the actions of the two people that were arrested. Their crime was sickening—and not just because of what they were charged with. Clanton Police Chief Brian Stilwell said children were present in the home when drugs were being sold and when the search warrant was executed.

“That really tears our hearts out,” Stilwell said, and we agree.

Throwing away one’s own life or helping throw away the lives of other people that want to abuse drugs is bad enough, but these two were ruining the lives of children that had no say in the matter.
