Two people were arrested on drug charges when Clanton narcotics officers executed a search warrant at 205 Louise St. in Clanton late Monday night, capping off a month-long investigation.

Francis R. Wilson, 33, of Clanton and Johnny D. Tillis, 36, of Clanton were both charged with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Tillis is currently in jail with a $35,000 bond while Wilson, who is also on probation for other drug related charges, is in jail with a $15,000.

Clanton Police Chief Brian Stilwell said they have received numerous complaints about this residence on Louise Street concerning suspicious activity related to the sale of illegal drugs.

“Clanton Police narcotics officers have worked diligently over the past month investigating these claims that led to the execution of a search warrant last night,” Stilwell said yesterday.

Narcotics agents were able to obtain evidence by purchasing illegal narcotics from the house on multiple occasions. Small quantities of what is believed to be crack cocaine and marijuana were recovered from the residence during the search warrant.

Stilwell said all of the officers involved in the case and the execution of the warrant did an excellent job.

“What is so tragic in cases like this is that young children were present in the home while drugs were being sold and when we executed the search warrant. That really tears our hearts out,” he said.
