Raises make sense

Most full-time employees for the Town of Thorsby will be getting a little something extra in their paycheck very soon.
In addition to pay raises for its full-timers, the town also will offer incentives for earning additional job training certification, which will reward workers for their skills and increase job security.
Thorsby is also becoming more competitive in its pay rate for public safety officials, as the council Monday night increased the pay for its full-time police officers, bringing them more in line with others in the county.
While the town did not raise the pay of its part-time workers, they are being prudent about the situation. Instead of opting for across-the-board raises, they decided to take it one step at a time.
New employees will not see the same pay rate as longtime employees but will enjoy the same incentives as everyone else.
Sounds fair to us.
