Ray Charles Mitchell has lived in the Maplesville community for 40 years. He spent 18 years working at West Fraser in Maplesville before they shut down. He now works at George Pacific Paper in Thorsby.
Mitchell lives in Maplesville with his family including wife, Mary, and two children, Jasmine and Damien.
He joined the Maplesville Town Council to help get things done that he saw needed to be done in the community.
“Being on the council then if I see something that needs to be changed I can take the right steps as a member to get it changed. I thought that by being part of the council I could add to things that needed to be done while giving back to my community,” he said.
He said that being on the council also gives him the opportunity to help out at Maplesville High School where he tries to set a good example for the children in order to help them reach their goals of getting out of a small town.
With finances troubling the town council right now he said that they are hoping to get to help and do as much as they have in the past.
