BIRMINGHAM — According to AAA Alabama, the state wide average for regular gas is five cents higher than a month ago.

The auto club report the average statewide price for regular Monday is $1.79 a gallon. That’s about 12 cents cheaper than the national average of $1.91.

AAA’s daily fuel gauge report finds midgrade averages $1.91 while premium costs $1.97 a gallon.

Despite higher prices at the gas pumps, regular fuel is still $1.32 cheaper than a year ago.
