Mollye Megginson McKee

Mollye Louise Megginson McKee, 94, of Clanton died Tuesday, Feb. 10, at Trinity Medical Center in Birmingham.

She was born in Thomasville, Alabama of John Maddox Megginson and Amanda McMillian Megginson on Sept. 7, 1914. She graduated from Livingston State Teachers College and attended Tulane University School of Social Work. After teaching school for three years in Russellville, she began working as a social worker.
She served as director of the Chilton County Department of Pensions and Security until retiring in 1977.
She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Clanton. She was strong in her faith and as inspiration to all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John V. McKee.

She is survived by three children, Mrs. Silvia (Larry) Mitchell, John W. (Libby) McKee, Jr. and James M. (Susan) McKee; five grandchildren, Chad (Mireya) McKee, Christopher (Mandy) Mitchell, Kari (Chris) Pitts, Courtney (Mark) Doering and John S. McKee; one great-grandchild, Molly Mitchell; two sisters-in-law, Mary Megginson and Louise McKee; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 12 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be Friday, Feb. 13, at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Matthew DeBord and the Rev. Jay Hurd officiating. Interment will follow in Chilton Memorial Gardens in Clanton with Martin Funeral Home directing.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Alabama Baptist Children’s Home or any other children’s charity.
