Jemison linebacker Christian Briscoe today signed a National Letter of Intent to play college football for Jacksonville State University.
Briscoe’s signing was held shortly after 8 a.m. in the school’s library and attended by Briscoe’s mother, Lisa Blue, Jemison football coach Brad Abbott and school principal Alan Thompson. It was the only such event involving a local player scheduled for today, the first day high school prospects can sign.
Briscoe committed to JSU after watching the Gamecocks play Southeast Missouri State on Oct. 4. He then took an official visit on Jan. 24.
Briscoe was the area’s fifth-leading tackler with 96 tackles in 11 games for an average of 8.7 tackles a game. Briscoe was also used as a tight end as the Panthers went 7-3 in the regular season and made the playoffs.
