CAMS racers honored

The Central Alabama Motocross Series’ annual banquet was held Jan. 25 at Billingsley School cafeteria.
The CAMS series for the 2008 season consisted of three motocross tracks across central Alabama: Noah’s Moto Park in Maplesville, Holeshot MX in Millbrook and Crossbone MX Ranch in Billingsley. Riders competed in races from March-November 2008 and accumulated points from each race. Motocross is a family sport with male and female riders as young as 4 up to those who are still young at heart.
Locals who were honored at the banquet are: Cody Draper, second place 50 cc 7-8 years; Cole Spencer of Maplesville, fourth place 85 cc 7-11 years; Trent Smith of Maplesville, first place 65 cc 7-9 years and first place Preteen; Cole Nelson, fifth place 65 cc 7-9 years; Troy Harrison of Maplesville, first place 65 cc 10-11 years and second place Preteen; Tyler Roper of Maplesville, first place 85cc 7-11 and fifth place Preteen; Devin Lenoir, fifth place 65 cc 10-11 years; Deven George of Maplesville, second place in 85 cc 7-11 years; and Will Harrison of Maplesville, fourth place in Preteen.
Many prizes were also given away from area sponsors. Some of the larger prizes were Troy Harrison of Maplesville receiving a helmet from Dirt Bike Supply in Pelham, Trent Smith receiving a $100 gift certificate for a helmet at CMC Motosports in Prattville.
The 2009 season will begin in March and include the following tracks: Noah’s Motopark, Crossbone MX Ranch, Outlaw MX Ranch, and Central Alabama Motocross Track.
