CIS spelling bee

Clanton Intermediate School held its grade level spelling bee competitions that exhibited the spelling talents on their students.
Fifth grade participants for the Clanton Intermediate School Spelling Bee included Triston Gore, Nikki Ahuja, Jacob Minor, Brenda Golden, Tolliver Gilliland, Boyd Price, Stacy Foot, Leah Young and Lexi Gray. Ahuja and Young competed for the winning position, but Ahuja won by correcting the spelling of “fiery” and then spelling the winning word “apostrophe.”
Grade level winners for the Clanton Intermediate School Spelling Bee, who were third grader Macy Minor, fifth grader Nikki Ahuja and fourth grader Zachary Young, competed for school championship.
Those students who participated studied 300 words that ranged from “chocolate” to “geosynchronous.”
Young and Ahuja competed for the winning position, but Ahuja won by correcting the spelling of “excise” and then spelling the winning word of “Gestapo.”
Ahuja will move forward in the spelling be competition and vie for the champion of the Chilton County Spelling Bee on Feb. 10.
