Auburn edges Texas-Pan American 66-63

AUBURN — DeWayne Reed scored 14 points and made two free throws with 16 seconds left to help Auburn beat Texas-Pan American 66-63 on Tuesday night.

The Tigers (13-7) jumped out to a 14-0 lead and a 39-28 halftime advantage, but needed 7 of 10 free throws in the final 2:04 to hang on for the nonconference win.

The Broncs (5-13), who have lost six of seven, went on a 19-7 run for their first lead at 47-46 with 9:26 left.

The Tigers regained the edge at 52-51 and built a five-point cushion. P.J. Turner’s three-point play with 17 seconds left pulled Texas-Pan American within two.

After Reed’s two foul shots for 65-61, Turner made a layup. Quantez Robertson then hit a free throw to seal the win for Auburn, which is 11-2 at home.

Korvotney Barber had nine points and 10 rebounds for the Tigers.

Turner led the Broncs with 16 points.
