Although the 2009 Chilton County Peach Festival is still five months away, many of the major events have already been planned.

Orientation for the Peach Pageants is May 3 at Clanton First United Methodist Church, and the Peach Pageants will be held June 20-25.

Peach Festival director Richard Davis said they have changed up several of the events for pageant contestants.

Some of the events will include a nail session for the junior contestants, picking peaches for the young group, a trip to Petals from the Past for the little contestants and an artistic painting session for Miss Peach contestants.

This week, the 2008 Peach Queens picked out six colors for the Peach Festival T-shirts in addition to white. They also picked out another color just for the pageant contestants.

Davis said the T-shirts would be on sale mid-March.

This year will be 62nd annual Peach Festival, and the Clanton Lions Club will once again sponsor the event.

Other activities that have been scheduled are the Peach Jam on June 26 and the Peach Parade on June 27 followed by the Peach Auction and fly-in.
