For those women 60 and over who never got the opportunity to compete in a beauty pageant, now you will get your chance.

The Thorsby High School Auditorium will host the inaugural Ms. Senior Chilton County Pageant on March 27.

Wes Gandy, pageant director, said this pageant is connected with the Ms. Senior Alabama Pageant.

“This pageant is a preliminary for the Ms. Senior Alabama, who then goes on to compete in Ms. Senior America,” Gandy said. “This is a pageant that celebrates the age of elegance. The Ms. Senior Chilton County Board believes that seniors are the foundation of Chilton County and our most valuable treasure.”

The requirements are the person must be a resident of Chilton County for at least three months, age 60 or over, and each contestant is required to give her philosophy of life, which is just your outlook on what life is about. There is a talent portion and eveningwear competition.

Gandy indicated that there is no cost for entering the competition.

“The purpose of this pageant is to develop, foster and promote programs and activities that dispel the myths of aging by enhancing the lives of seniors in Chilton County by providing them with opportunities to grow mentally, physically and spiritually,” he said.

Applications for the pageant are available at several businesses in Chilton County. For more information, contact Gandy by phone at (205) 253-6672 or by e-mail at wes@helpinghandshospice.net.
