Local church lighting up the sky

The youth of Oak Grove Church of God are selling fireworks at Love’s Travel Stop in Clanton.

Twenty percent of the proceeds from fireworks sales will go toward missions and other activities of the youth group.

They are planning a mission trip to Montana next summer and a trip to Winter Fest, a collective worship event in Knoxville, Tenn.

The stand is open from 10 a.m. until midnight through New Year’s Day.

They will remain open after midnight on New Year’s Eve, volunteer Shane Kohn said.

There are between 35 and 40 members of the youth group, which work in shifts at the fireworks stand. They have fireworks of various sizes and several “buy one, get one free” items.

Just look for the TNT Fireworks stand in front of Love’s on County Road 28 (Lake Mitchell Road). For more information, please call 280-2199.
