Auburn beats Alabama State 77-72
AUBURN — Tay Waller scored 21 points as Auburn beat Alabama State 77-72 on Monday night.
The win was the fourth straight victory for the Tigers (7-4). Waller shot 7-for-14 from the field, including 6-for-12 from 3-point range. Rasheem Barrett chipped in with 12 points.
Brandon Brooks led the Hornets (2-7) with 24 points and seven assists. Rashad Provitt added 14 points and 14 rebounds.
The Hornets held a 29-24 lead at halftime, but Auburn opened the second half with an 11-6 run — which included eight points from Waller — to tie the game. Alabama State battled back to regain the lead, and led 48-38 with 10:52 remaining.
Auburn answered with a 17-0 run with 2:25 remaining to gain a 59-68 lead, and never trailed again.
Auburn scored 31 points off of Alabama State’s 24 turnovers.
