OAKMAN — Severe weather is blamed for damaging two schools in rural Walker County.

According to Oakman Police Chief John Wilson, classes had to be canceled at Oakman Elementary and Oakman High School.

Wilson said both schools sustained some structural damage early Wednesday.

Several mobile homes and chicken houses in Walker County were also destroyed. But there are no reports of injuries.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham said survey teams will assess storm damages in Walker, Fayette and St. Clair counties.
