A Brandon Veazey 3-pointer stretched the Isabella lead to 21-11 in the second quarter Tuesday, but it was all Jemison thereafter as the Panthers finished with a flurry to pick up their first win of the season with a 88-80 decision over Isabella.

The Panthers (1-3) fought back to tie the game shortly before intermission. In the second half, the hosts’ defense wouldn’t let the Mustangs (1-3) play their halfcourt game.

Instead, the Jemison defense forced turnovers and quick shots and took advantage of the mistakes on the offensive end with easy lay-ups.

The hosts led by as much as 11 points in the fourth quarter.

Jemison’s Christian Briscoe scored a game-high 38 points, 19 of which came in the fourth quarter. Terrance Taylor added 23 points.

Isabella’s Norman Craig (22 points), Veazey (20 points) and Brian Donovan (19 points) all competed for their team’s high scorer honors.

Jemison (1-2) held Isabella scoreless in the third quarter to turn an early deficit into an easy win.

Tre Bryant led the way with 23 points, and Javae Swindle added eight points.

Willie Stacy had seven points for Isabella, and Matt Snell had six points.
