Vigor beats Russellville 50-30 for Class 5A title
BIRMINGHAM – Vigor’s Kendall Houston and Jalston Fowler each ran for three touchdowns as the Wolves beat Russellville 50-30 in Birmingham to win the Class 5A state football championship.
The win Friday night capped a perfect, 15-0 season for Vigor.
The Wolves had a record 612 yards of total offense. They jumped out to a 21-3 lead early, gave it up and trailed Russellville briefly in the third quarter, before pulling away for the victory.
Houston scored on runs of 7, 3 and 1 yards. Fowler ranning it in from 39, 22 and 10 yards out.
Pass-oriented Russellville had minus-11 rushing yards for the game.
