Something to help our soldiers

Chad Gibson is proud to say Chilton County residents really do care for their soldiers. We’re proud that Gibson, a local serving in Iraq, can say that.

Gibson’s mother, Stephanie Gibson, spearheaded an effort to send stockings stuffed with gifts. What began as an effort by members of Clanton First United Methodist Church became a community project, and 366 stockings, 60 boxes and all necessary postage were donated.

Gibson and the other county residents that were part of the stockings project are not the only ones thinking about our soldiers this holiday season.

Also in Wednesday’s newspaper was a story about Chilton Medical Center and its Christmas traditions, one of which includes a tree decorated in honor of our troops.

During such a hectic time of the year, it’s good to see Chilton County residents are still making time to remember those that sacrifice so that we may enjoy the holidays.
