Rose Sutley

Rose Watkins Sutley born Nov. 6, 1916 passed away Nov. 25. She was the last survivor of 13 children of E.C. and Alice Watkins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin C. Sutley. They were married 58 years and lived in Clanton.
They were members of Clanton First Baptist Church. Following his death, she returned to Birmingham to live. She graduated from Howard College, now Samford, and taught for many years in Chilton County schools.
She is survived by nieces, Alice Turpin, Grace Walker (Jim), Rosemary Farren (Richard) and Margaret Watkins; nephews, Curtis Turpin, Jr. (Shirley), Michael Turpin (Stephanie), Steve Watkins (Shelley), Kenneth Watkins (Jean), Bill Watkins (Connie), Barry Watkins and John Russel Sutley (Ellen); sister-in-law, Ceil Watkins; family friend, Junior Dennis and loving caregiver, Wendi Green/
The family received friends on Monday, Dec. 1 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Ridout’s Valley Chapel. The graveside service followed at 11:30 a.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Earl Tew officiated.
Services were under the direction of Ridout’s Valley Chapel in Homewood.
