James Kendrick

James Ray (Jim) Kendrick, 68, of Tuscaloosa died Nov. 23 at DCH Regional Medical Center.
Services were held today at 10 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Charles Durham and Patrick Laney officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. today in City Memorial Cemetery in Thorsby with Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Luther Kendrick, and his mother, Glennie Kendrick.
Survivors include his daughters, Laura Kendrick of Athens, Ga., and Kelly Karim (James Johnson) of Atlanta, Ga.; his son, Jon Kendrick of Columbus, Ga.; his sister, Glenda Hardin (Gary) of Montgomery; his grandchildren, Drake, Emma, Michael, Jacob and Joshua; his dearest friend, Margaret Pow and her grandchildren, Garrett, Phillip, Tyler and Marianne.
James Ray Kendrick graduated from Chilton County High School and Livingston College. He retired from the University of Alabama. He volunteered in the Humane Society and the Soup Kitchen.
He lived a full life with a special love for nature and travel. He spent his retirement years enjoying his grandchildren, family and friends. He passed away in the midst of his close family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Humane Society of West Alabama, 1515 Veterans Memorial Parkway, Tuscaloosa, AL 35404; the Community Soup Bowl, 711 23rd Ave., Tuscaloosa, AL 35401; or to the American Heart Association.
