Agents assigned to a drug task force in north Alabama believe they have dismantled a major drug operation with the arrest of an alleged dealer and the seizure of almost 50 pounds of drugs.
Police Sgt. Dewayne McCarver of the Madison/Morgan County strategic counterdrug team said 30-year-old Carlos Aueay, a Mexican national, was arrested Thursday night and charged with trafficking cocaine.
Officers executed a search warrant in Madison and confiscated 13 pounds of cocaine and 35 pounds of marijuana. Authorities believe Aueay is the head of a Mexican-based drug ring.
Four other people also were charged with drug trafficking.
All the suspects likely will face federal charges.
