Thorsby takes two from Verbena
Thorsby’s girls team on Monday used a strong defensive effort in the third quarter, holding the visiting Red Devils (0-5) to four points, to take a 40-30 win.
Sharonda Cooper’s 19 points for the Rebels was enough to offset the game-high 22 points dropped by Verbena’s Marquiska Deramus.
Ashlin Hilyer and Amanda Hubbard had eight points each for Thorsby.
Thorsby boys 65, Verbena 33
Thorsby had three scorers in double digits in a win over Verbena.
Evan Bryan (12 points), Marcus Bray (10) and Eddie Hubbard (10) almost outscored the Red Devils (0-5) by themselves.
The visitors got their scoring from Brad Boswell (11 points) and Brandon White (10).
