Raymond Hamilton

Born Oct. 4, 1924 in Coosa County, the second oldest of 12 children. He died Nov. 16, 2008 at the age of 84.
A resident of Clanton since 1946, he was in the auto parts business from 1946 till he retired in 1988.
He served his country during WWII, while in Europe. He was a founding director of 1st Federal Savings and Loan of Chilton County. He was very active in local civic organizations, including the Lions Club (past president) and Chilton County Chamber of Commerce and other civic groups. Raymond was a long time member of West End Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Riley and Jane Hamilton and four brothers. He is survived by his wife of 61 1/2 years, Jeanette, one son Wayne (Pat) Hamilton, five brothers, two sisters, two sister-in-laws and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Family Comfort Hospice and especially Ginger Smitherman for her loving care.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov. 18 at Martin Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Graveside Services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 19, 1 p.m. at Chilton Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Tony Smitherman officiating.
