Clanton Police arrested two juvenile males ages 16 and 14 after they allegedly broke into Fred’s and stole tobacco products.

The burglary happened around 10 p.m. when the boys threw a brick through the store’s front window. The boys were caught around 1 a.m. at Wal-Mart.

“The boys were caught because they kept bringing attention to themselves. We may have caught them later, but they were still caught and punished for doing what they did,” Interim Police Chief Keith Maddox said.

Sgt. Richard Todd and Officer David Clackley were the two Clanton Police Officers that arrested the boys and identified them as the burglars.

“This was one time it paid to have a video camera. Because we could see them on the camera, we were able to make a positive ID on them later,” Maddox said.

Both boys were charged with third degree burglary and third degree theft of property.

Thorsby, Jemison and Maplesville

Thorsby Police Chief Ed Prady said his part of town was even quieter than normal through the whole weekend. Jemison and Maplesville confirmed that they too had quiet weekends with nothing unexpected happening.
