Home health care keeps millions of patients out of hospitals, nursing homes and assisted-living facilities around the country. Through the efforts of the medical personnel employed in home health care, patients can recover from illness or surgery and learn to cope with chronic health problems, to name a few.
Chilton County residents have many sources of home health care, but only has one that has their home office based within the boundaries of Chilton County, that being Chilton Medical Center Home Health.
“Study after study shows patients heal better in their own environments,” said J. Lee, administrator of the CMC Home Health. “The services of Home Health enable an individual to recuperate in their own home comfortably with the professional care of qualified caregivers.”
“Our patients just love their nurses. We work hard to make sure that we treat our patients the way we want to be treated.”
Chilton Medical Center Home Health service has a registered nurse on call 24 hours a day and serves eight counties in Alabama including Chilton, Autauga, Coosa, Dallas, Bibb, Shelby, Elmore and Perry.
“Our mission is to preserve and improve human life by providing residents of rural communities access to personalized, exceptional and caring health services,” said Lee.
Chilton Medical Center Home Health has many services that may be provided, including the following: skilled nursing, physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, social worker, home health aide and a registered dietician.
Most people who are temporarily or permanently homebound due to physical or mental limitations, regardless of age, may qualify for home health.
However, it is important to remember that a doctor’s orders are needed before home health can begin.
CMC Home Health is nationally accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO).
Lee said that JCAHO is a very high standard of service provided by Home Health, which means they have to be second to none.
“It’s important for us to work hard and keep improving,” Lee explained.
“We have a wide variety of services and plan on continuing to improve them.”
