House burns in Enterprise

A two-story house in the Enterprise community of Chilton County caught fire early Sunday morning.

Around 2:30 a.m., Enterprise and Verbena fire departments were dispatched to the home on County Road 372. Because there was no fire hydrant near the scene, emergency workers used a drop tank to help pump water through the fire engines so firefighters could spray water on the house.

No information was immediately available about any injuries or if all occupants had left the home.

The house appeared to be a total loss. A shed beside the structure also caught fire.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

Officials on the scene have asked the state fire marshal’s office to investigate the blaze.
