James “J.C.” Carl Jones, Sr., 73, of Verbena died Thursday, Oct. 23.
He was born Friday, July 26, 1935 in Alabama, son of the late Rainie Jones and Lina Rollan Jones.
He was a retired lieutenant with the Alabama Department of Corrections.
Surviving are his daughters, Teressa Darlene (Jerry) Poole of Holtville, Margaret (John) Franks of Verbena; son, James Carl (Gena) Jones, Jr. of Chelsea; five grandsons, Bryan(Crystal Headley) Buckner, Jason (Jessica) Buckner, Eric Wright, Derrick Wright, Jonathan Jones; two granddaughters, Erica Drake, Maranda (Keith) Acreman; four great-grandchildren and four on the way, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; brothers, Rufus Jones of Montgomery, Wayne (Linda) Jones of Montgomery, Ollie Clyde (Mavis) Jones of Clanton; sister, Pauline Kelly of Clanton; grandson at heart, Tim Mims of Clanton.
Services will be held today at 1 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lonnie Plunket and the Rev. Keith Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery, Clanton.
