Applications for CAEC’s Bright Ideas grant being accepted

Teachers in need of extra classroom funds still have time to submit their application for Central Alabama Electric Cooperative’s (CAEC’s) 2008-2009 Bright Ideas Grant Program.

The Bright Ideas Grant Program will award $16,000 this year to support innovative, creative and effective initiatives that cannot be covered by traditional funding. The program is designed for teachers in public and private schools, K-12, within CAEC’s service area.

Teams of teachers and individual teachers are eligible to apply for grant monies. Individual teachers can apply for grants from $250 to $750, while teams of teachers are eligible for a maximum of $1,500.

Teachers have until Nov. 7, to apply for the grants, which will be awarded set for January 2009.

Since the program’s inception in 1998, more than 60,000 students have benefitted from the Bright Ideas Grant Program.
