Kelley Lucas scored on runs of 8 and 31 yards to give Verbena (3-6, 2-5) a 12-8 halftime lead, but the Red Devils couldn’t hold onto the edge and lost to Winterboro, 22-12.

The loss ends Verbena’s playoff hopes.

Lucas finished with 181 yards rushing on 24 carries, and Kelly Dorsett added 79 yards on 12 carries.

Brad Boswell completed four passes in 10 attempts for 94 yards. Brandon White was the leading receiver with two grabs for 62 yards.
