PRATTVILLE (AP) – A fatal shooting has shaken up the close-knit Pine Level community near Prattville, and the Autauga County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with any information to step forward.

Sheriff Herbie Johnson said 48-year-old Joe “Joey” B. Wilmore was found dead around 9 p.m. Sunday in his auto shop.

Johnson said Wilmore had been shot but wouldn’t say what type or caliber gun was used until the autopsy is completed.

Investigators said they have some leads but would like anyone who may have seen anything unusual Sunday afternoon or evening to give them a call.

Investigators said the business hadn’t opened yet because Wilmore was doing work on the building. Authorities wouldn’t comment on a motive but said Wilmore’s 1989 Chevrolet pickup is missing.
