Chilton County High’s offense made it look easy early and produced enough late in a 38-16 win over Wilcox Central at Tiger Stadium that earned the hosts a playoff berth.

The Tigers (3-5, 3-2 region) scored on their first four possessions but couldn’t manage a first down on their next four possessions.

The scores came on a 1-yard run by James Boswell; a 63-yard hook-and-lateral run to perfection by Taylor Hughes, Kendrick Woods and Chris Felder; a 12-yard run by Gheryme Reed and a 5-yard interception return for a touchdown by Casey Brand.

CCHS led 28-0 at the end of the first quarter but wouldn’t score again until Patrick Norman was good on a 36-yard field goal with 53 seconds left in the third quarter. Norman was also good on all five of his point-after attempts.

The Jaguars (1-7, 1-4) had scored a touchdown and a 2-point conversion by the time of Norman’s kick, and they added eight more points with 23 seconds left to play.

Chilton’s last score was a 23-yard pass from Hughes to Woods.
