Birmingham man killed in train derailment

DECATUR (AP) – Authorities have identified a conductor killed in a train derailment in north Alabama.

Decatur Police said 28-year-old Gregory Johnson of Birmingham died in Wednesday night’s accident.

Two trains operated by CSX Railroad collided and went off the tracks at about 11:30 p.m.

A total of 5 cars derailed. All were carrying soybeans and soybean oil.

Several agencies, including Decatur Police, CSX and the Federal Railroad Administration, are conducting separate investigations.
