SEC honors Smith, Spikes, Munnerlyn
BIRMINGHAM – Arkansas tailback Michael Smith, Florida linebacker Brandon Spikes and South Carolina return man Captain Munnerlyn have been honored by the Southeastern Conference.
Smith rushed for a career-high 176 yards and a 63-yard go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter to lead Arkansas to a win at Auburn and earn offensive player of the week.
Spikes had two interceptions and returned one 52 yards for a touchdown in the Gators’ win over LSU.
Munnerlyn returned a kickoff 84 yards to set up a touchdown and also returned a blocked field goal 81 yards for a touchdown to lead South Carolina to a win at Kentucky.
Georgia’s Clint Boling was offensive lineman of the week and Arkansas’ Adrian Davis earned defensive line honors. Freshman of the week was South Carolina quarterback Stephen Garcia.
