Maplesville offense comes alive
Maplesville (5-1, 5-1) struggled offensively in the first half, leading 21-6 at Akron, but the Red Devils offense found its rhythm in the second half and won 55-22.
Hunter McCay ran back the opening kick of the second half 95 yards for a touchdown, and the rout was on.
“We were just glad to see our offense wake up this week,” coach Brent Hubbert said.
McCay finished with 260 total yards and two touchdowns.Quarterback Matt Hamner completed eight passes in 12 attempts for 160 yards. Hamner passed for two scores and ran for two more.
The starting defense for Maplesville allowed only 82 yards.
