We must squeak louder

Dear Editor,

How much more do the politicians and big business big shots think we can handle? Gasoline in central Alabama is much higher than the statewide average. Now the Public Service Commission has approved a rate hike for Alabama Power Co. That is going to cost $15 per 1,000 kilowatt hours. (Yes, those are the people we voted into office.) And what do we (the working class) do? We keep shelling out whatever the big wigs tell us to shell out. I, for one am sick of it. My 2 percent raise on my Social Security does not even make up for the increase in my grocery bill.

I go further in the hole every month. And I know there are many people that are in a worse situation than I am. As long as we, the working class, the ones who have always worked and paid our taxes to keep this country going. sit on the back row and say nothing and slave to make the money to pay what is being forced on us, you can be assured we will be called on for more. We need to start calling and writing our Senators and Representatives. The wheel that squeaks the loudest gets the grease.

We pay these people a nice salary to represent us, not big business. We cannot sit back and remain quiet and continue to have a life. What are we leaving our children to deal with? Please, let your voice be heard.
