If you like to read, make plans now to attend the Rotary Club and Clanton Advertiser’s annual used book sale Saturday, Oct. 11, in the Clanton Advertiser parking lot.

All proceeds from the sale will help fund the Rotary Club’s annual Newspaper in Education program where newspapers of given to eighth graders throughout Chilton County each Friday.

The books were donated from people throughout the county and include novels, biographies, cookbooks, children books, fiction and none fiction. The books are in good condition (many like new) and there are more than a thousand titles to choose from.

All books will sell for 50 cents or less, providing you an opportunity to add good reading material to your home libraries at a fraction of the books’ original cost. There are old and nearly new books, hard to find titles as well as books by some of today’s best read authors. Hardback and paperback books will be displayed as to type and subject matter.

Members of the Clanton Advertiser staff plan to have many other useful (yard-sale) items in the sale as well.

The Newspaper in Education Program, sponsored by the Rotarians, is a national program designed to encourage school students to read and keep informed about local news events. Teaching students to keep informed about their communities now will make the students more active citizens in the future.

Every dollar spent at the book sale Saturday will go directly to the NIE program fund and will enable the program to provide more newspapers for students. You not only will be able to purchase great books for a fraction of their original price, but you will know the money use spend on the books will help students keep abreast of the news of our community.

The sale is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. and will continue through noon. Come early and I am sure you will find just the right book. And, considering how they have all been priced, you can purchase several of them for the same price you would normally expect to pay for a single new paperback book.

I hope we see you at the sale.
