Wilson, Sanford, Succop win weekly SEC honors

BIRMINGHAM – Alabama quarterback John Parker Wilson was named the Southeastern Conference player of the week.

Also honored by the league Monday were Mississippi safety Jamarca Sanford as defensive player of the week and South Carolina placekicker Ryan Succop in special teams.

Wilson passed for 205 yards and a touchdown in a win at Georgia, completing 13-of-16 passes.

Sanford had 11 tackles in Mississippi’s win at Florida. He is the SEC’s current active leader in career tackles.

Succop had four field goals in a win over UAB, including a 44-yarder and a 48-yarder.

The offensive lineman of the week was Kentucky tackle Garry Williams, while Auburn end Antonio Coleman took defensive line honors.

LSU quarterback Jarrett Lee was freshman of the week.
