Devils win easily at John Essex

DEMOPOLIS – Maplesville’s Matt Hamner threw for three touchdowns in only seven completions Friday night to lead the Red Devils (3-0) to a 41-6 win over John Essex (0-4).

Maplesville took a 21-0 lead at the end of the first quarter and was never challenged. John Essex scored in the third quarter.

Hamner threw nine times and compiled 164 yards passing.

James Madsen was Maplesville’s leading receiver with two catches for 77 yards and two touchdowns. Hunter McCay led the ground attack with four rushes for 65 yards and two touchdowns.

Chris Reeves scored on a 45-yard reception, and Chris Bailey found paydirt on a 15-yard run.
