The Jemison City Council has set up a work session on Oct. 9 to discuss the budget for fiscal year 2009.

The council approved a $2.8 million budget last year that gave a five-percent pay raise to all employees.

The council also moved police officer Brandon Wright from part-time to full-time and accepted resignations of police officers Shawn Collins and Mark McMinn.

Terry and Miranda were accepted by the council as new volunteer firefighters.

Two residents also addressed the council. Patrick Turner complained about speeding on County Road 71 and also about junk that needed to be cleaned up.

Becky Mims also asked the council why a trailer had not been moved off of a piece of property on County Road 38 inside the city limits.
