Troy University Director of Athletics Steve Dennis announced today that this weekend’s scheduled football game at LSU has been postponed until Nov. 15.
“This is a football game, nothing more, and the people of Baton Rouge have more to worry about right now than a football game,” Dennis said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Baton Rouge and LSU and we wish them nothing but the best as they work to overcome the effects of this storm.”
Troy fans who have purchased tickets to the game should keep their tickets, which will be honored in November. A kickoff time for the rescheduled game will be announced at a later date.
The Trojans will continue to work on the practice field this week and will turn their attention to the home-opener against Alcorn State. The Trojans will make their 2008 Movie Gallery Stadium debut on Saturday evening, Sept. 13, with kickoff set for 6 p.m.
The game against Alcorn State has also been set as a celebration of the 40th anniversary of Troy’s 1968 NAIA National Championship. There will be a reunion of team members on Friday before the game and the squad will be recognized on the field on Saturday.
The game against Alcorn State will not be televised. Season and single-game tickets are available through the Troy University Athletics Ticket office. Call 334-670-3681 for ticket information.
