MIAMI – Atlanta Braves third baseman Chipper Jones was scratched from the starting lineup just before the game against the Florida Marlins on Tuesday night with a tweaked right knee.
Jones, who is hitting .358 with 20 home runs and 67 RBIs, was replaced by Omar Infante. It was unclear when Jones was injured or how long he would be sidelined.
Sunday, Jones was fighting some congestion caused by allergies and was out of the starting lineup. A day earlier, he hit his 20th home run of the season in the seventh inning of the Braves’ 9-8, 10-inning loss to the Washington Nationals, and joined Eddie Mathews as the only players to begin their careers with 14 straight seasons of 20 or more homers.
