A stingy Jemison defensive unit Friday night held visiting Verbena without a first down until a 16-yard scamper by Brandon White late in the third quarter. At press time, Jemison led the contest 38-14 with 5:47 remaining in the game.
The Panthers had already built a 38-0 lead at that point. Merrell Morrow scored the first points of the night, Jemison receiver James Scalf had two touchdown catches, Javea Swindle scored on a 50-yard run and on a fumble recovery and Taylor Anderson also scored on a fumble recovery.
Verbena got on the board as clock ran out on the third quarter. Brad Boswell found Austin Daniel streaking down the right visitors’ sideline from 26 yards out.
Verbena’s Brandon White scrambled and scored with just under 7 minutes left in the game. He also ran in the 2-point conversion.
Argo finished 7-of-22 for 126 yards and a touchdown. Morrow was the game’s leading rusher with 30 yards on seven carries.
