PRATTVILLE – The former director of the Autauga County Humane Shelter has been sentenced to 14 months in jail for stealing about $3,000 from the shelter.
Linda Mefford of Prattville was sentenced Thursday on her conviction on two theft of property charges.
Mefford’s attorney, Bruce Maddox, asked for bond to be set so Mefford could be released pending an appeal. A hearing will be set to consider the appeal bond.
Before she was sentenced Mefford, who maintained her innocence, apologized to her family and the community for any embarrassment she caused.
Mefford’s son, 38-year-old Charles Medford of Verbena, was charged last month with making a terroristic threat against Circuit Judge Sibley Reynolds, who presided over Linda Mefford’s theft case.
