Olympic spirit prevails

The Olympics are underway, and so far, China has not disappointed.
There was a lot of anxiety before the games amid protests over human rights, especially on the long route of the Olympic torch relay around the world. There have been numerous people to try to put out the flame, but once the flame made it to the cauldron in Olympic stadium, the excitement hasn’t ended.
We’ve had exciting finishes, especially with the men’s 4x100m freestyle swimming relay in which the U.S. edged France by eight-hundredths of a second. You’ve also seen the U.S. men’s basketball team play host China in front of a raucous crowd.
It has certainly been one of the best events to watch over the last few days, and it will continue to be interesting up until the closing ceremonies on Aug. 24. Though there are wars and military conflicts occurring across the nation, it is good to see the animosity that countries have for each other can be set aside for these few days every four years. We hope the Olympic spirit can spread worldwide and help bring us together – across borders and nationalities.
