Two men were arrested for having drugs, including cocaine and heroin, Thursday night after being stopped by Jemison Police for a traffic violation.

Chief Brian Stilwell announced yesterday the arrests of Bruce Wayne Williams, 54, of Troy and Willie Lee Harris, 65, of Montgomery. Williams was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, DUI and violation of prohibition law. Harris was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of heroin and possession of marijuana.

Both individuals have long histories of drug arrest, and they are currently being held in the Chilton County Jail with no bond.

On Thursday around 8 p.m., K-9 officer Sgt. Randy “Ran” Morris Jr. along with his K-9 partner “Clip” stopped a 1995 Mazda Maxima for a traffic violation on I-65 at the Jemison exit.

Further investigation beyond the traffic violation was conducted that resulted in the seizure of 23 grams of powder cocaine, three grams of heroin, a small amount of marijuana and various articles of drug paraphernalia. Street value of the drugs confiscated in the incident totals approximately $3,000.

The Chilton County Sheriff’s Department assisted Jemison Police in the investigation and arrest.

“We appreciate the Chilton County Sheriff’s deputies for their help,” Stilwell said.

The Jemison Police Department is currently filing the appropriate paperwork with the District Attorney’s office in order to seize the vehicle for its use in transporting illegal narcotics.
