Two young females were flown from the scene of a wreck in Maplesville Wednesday.
The car was traveling west on Alabama Highway 22 when the driver apparently lost control of the 2001 Pontiac Grand Am. The vehicle flipped twice and came to rest in a ditch just off the side of the road.
When Maplesville Fire Department and Rescue arrived on the scene, they found one victim outside of the vehicle. At this time, it is unknown whether she was ejected from the vehicle.
“We are still investigating the wreck. Right now there is nothing definite as to what happened,” Maplesville Police Chief Todd Ingram said.
The wreck occurred about 4:40 p.m. The victims in the wreck were identified as Maplesville residents Jessica Jones and Hannah Burk. Both were flown to UAB Hospital.
As of yesterday morning Burk was recovering from the wreck while Jones was still listed in critical condition.
