The funeral arrangements for an Alabama Power employee who drowned at Mitchell Dam Tuesday have been determined.

Services for Robert Lynn Courtney Sr., 52, of Verbena have been set for Friday at 1 p.m. at West End Church of Christ in Clanton. Burial will follow in the Morning Star Baptist Church Cemetery, Verbena. Lee’s Funeral Home in Montgomery is directing.

Courtney was a 35-year employee of Alabama Power and had worked at Mitchell Dam for the past two decades.

He is survived by his wife, Retha Courtney; and five children, Tarsha Courtney, LaTonya Courtney, Robert Lynn Courtney, Jr., Mariah Courtney and Krystal Courtney.

Courtney drowned in an accident while performing routine maintenance at the dam Tuesday morning. The power plant was not generating electricity at the time of the accident.

No additional information on the accident was available because Alabama Power is continuing its investigation.
