It’s time to pray for rain

To the average person who commutes to work every day, it may seem that Alabama is rebounding well from last year’s drought.
But to the farmers who rely on a steady supply of rain year in and year out, the drought is still very real and present.
The lack of rainfall is affecting everyone in agriculture, from the fruit and vegetable growers to producers of livestock. While we have had a few summer showers, they have not been frequent or widespread enough to make a significant impact in the continuing drought situation.
In fact, current trends are starting to resemble those of the past two years rather than the big break everybody keeps looking for. The seemingly wet trend of the past few weeks has been deceptively pleasant, leaving many areas virtually untouched.
With all this in mind, it might be a good idea to start praying for rain. There are plenty of people in Chilton County who believe in the power of prayer, and it can’t hurt.
